Angular Momentum to Linear Momentum - and back again?

Sometimes when looking for a solution to a mechanical problem it helps to reverse the sequence of events required - or as Professor Eric Laithwaite liked to do, consider an analogy.

What we seek is a way of converting the downward linear force of gravity into rotational motion. As a means of seeking a solution for those of us who believe Bessler's wheel operated purely by gravitational force, perhap it might help to study the work of those whose ambition is to reverse the process. They wish to generate a unidirectional or linear force from a rapidly rotating weighted lever. There are a number of sites devoted to the experiments http://jnaudin.free.fr/html/IPEmain.htm for instance.

Now whether or not you believe it can be achieved, and I do, it is a fact is it not, that if Bessler's wheel is successfully built and is proved to be driven by gravity, and a working model demonstrated, then it follows that an engine that converts angular momentum to linear momentum can also be developed, since the action or process of one must be the reverse of the other.

Such an engine would have its own extraordinary abilities.  It could move over land and water and rise upwards against gravity.  Space drive with no emissions.

  1. This is a good idea but I think, actually, the bessler wheel movement depends on several other criteria...of course, gravity is the main...there are things like inertia, maybe CF, lever advantage, the advantages of springs and the way its internal gizmos are shaped in a special way, and the special role they play, etc...Hence...it can be concluded that the wheel is not purely dependant on gravity alone...gravity can also be replaced by magnetism...and the wheel can be made to perform in zero gravity conditions...

  2. I read a few of the more scientific links on the webpage. The ones I looked at seem to have the same thing in common; the experimenters don't understand the forces that are involved in bodies in motion. Some were patents from the 70's and 80's, some were broken links.
Converting momenta doesn't produce energy, it just converts the motion from a straight path (which is the least resistant) to a circular path. Which is the long way to describe a wheel like a water wheel. Those wheels converted linear momentum (acceleration of gravity) to angular (the mill stones that ground the grains).
A familiar reverse analogy would be a car. All of the angular momenta (crankshaft, drive shaft, differentials, tires, etc.) is converted to forward linear motion. But cars are rolling bodies of vast amounts of friction, so they tend to be highly inefficient.

  3. Yep,..I think we're going round in circles. There is only one solution that works and it's very simple. Gravity primed and gravity driven.Go figure.

  4. You are right John ,..that is definitely an area of research that needs to be explored. This property of gyroscopes needs to be exploited.
There is a lot more to gravity than just Newtons laws,..more than scientists care to admit.

  7. Sorry, I thought Vincent was talking about the addition to www.theorffyreuscode.com

The images wouldn't load and I had to delay the posting of the new information, but its working now.

  9. If the gravity wheel is shown to work, it would prove that impulse thrust (essentially the reverse of a gravity wheel) can be achieved. But it would also show that gravity is not an attractive force between the earth and smaller bodies, but a force field exterior to the earth, which drives the smaller bodies down to its center; and actually, any body of any mass must have such a force field around it.

  11. John check my blog under Bessler's wheel-before and after him. I think you will see I have easily converted an angular force into a rotational one. Stephen Burke

  12. John, made a mistake, posted under Bessler's wheel and the Orffyreus code. No matter, I guess youv'e received my drawings by now anyway. Stephen Burke.

  13. I don't leave a comment, but I browsed a few comments on this page "Angular Momentum to Linear Momentum - and back again?". I actually do have a few questions for you if it's allright.
Could it be just me or does it look as if like a few of the comments come
across as if they are written by brain dead visitors?

:-P And, if you are posting at other social sites, I would like to follow anything fresh you
have to post. Would you post a list of the complete urls of your social networking pages like
