Could Bessler's Wheel be made More Powerful than we Thought?

Here is a little hypothesis which might generate some discussion.  Many people are convinced that Bessler's wheel will never be more than toy; a novelty, with insufficient power to be of any practical use.  I disagree; I am convinced that a way will be found which makes Bessler's wheel a really valuable and practical alternative to the current methods of generating electricity.

Let us suppose that Bessler's wheel has been solved and we have the working model available for all to see, on the internet.

If the wheel is driven by weighted levers in a special configuration, any attempts to squeeze more power out if it will be limited by the confines of the wheel, and the mechanism.  Lengthening the levers to get more drop will only result in some additional height being required to raise them again - a no-win situation.  Increasing the size of the weights will also be self-defeating because they too will be harder to lift again. Depending on which configuration we use there may be other possible increases incorporated but still, they will have to be paid for in one way or other.  But perhaps there is  another way to increase the power output?

Suppose the output of the successful wheel is very small, as many have suggested both here and on the besslerwheel forum, how can we increase it? Assume that the wheel produces just enough energy to rotate itself continuously and lift a relatively light weight.  If we add another wheel to the same axle, we shall double the output, because the second wheel will simply add its energy to the first one which is already rotating the axle.

Why not add ten wheels to the same axle, each wheel adding its own small energy to the total?  In other words mount ten wheels each containing five mechanism (or however many you believe were contained within the wheel) on to the axle to create up to ten times the original power output.

This, it seems to me could be a real method of increasing power. Bessler himself stated in his Apologia Poetica that "I can, in fact, make 2, or 3, or even more, wheels all revolving on the same axle", so I suggest that was in his mind when he wrote it.

No need to increase the number or size of the weights or the levers, just build several Bessler's wheels in series all on the same axle.

  1. Hello John,

I had similar thoughts very often and I did some calculations based on the approach I'm following. I'm absolutely convinced that, if there's a solution found, then the power output can increased very easily. Once the principle is clear, every wheel can be adapted for the power needs. In my case, a wheel that fits in every room, not heavier than a 4 years old child, should output 3 kW with no problems. To increase power, either the diameter can made larger or use heavier weights.

So... yes, I too value the capability regarding useful energy output really significant.

  2. Those chasing pm are always trying to maximize the torque of their designs by having the CoM projected out, horizontally, as far as possible onto the wheel's descending side. Yes, it certainly sounds good in principle, but in practice leads to the problem off not having enough outputted energy to reset the weights in the design. In the model of the 12 foot diameter Merseberg wheel that I am pursuing, I'm lucky to be able to have the CoM of its weights and levers projected out only about 1/8th of an inch onto the descending side! That then requires the CoM to have a mass of hundreds of pounds just for the wheel to continuously output a few tens of watts. Just put more wheels on an axle, you say? Sure, but then you wind up with a cylindrical monster that would have to be as big as a house just to power that house! I hate to sound negative about all of this "power improvement" talk, but I don't see it happening, at least not at this point in time. I pursue a solution just to solve the mystery once and for all and prove that Bessler was an honest man.

Update. I finished and tested the new source model that uses the "improved" main rope attachment point to the levers and, quite surprisingly, it seemed to dramatically increase the lifting speed of my 10:30 going to 12:00 lever and those leading it on the descending side. However, the CoM of the design still refused to stay put on the wheel's descending side during a 45 degree test rotation. Now I'm starting to wonder if I may have made a false assumption about when the various lifting ropes in Bessler's wheels started to do their lifting of the 9:00 going to 10:30 lever. As long as my model's CoM does not remain on the descending side, that lever is simply not rising fast enough. I'm now at model # 1247 and I shall continue to vary the lifter rope attachment points in the hope of finding the exact combination that Bessler used. I know it's there...just have to hang in there until I find it.

Bessler cat's condition improved enough for him to return to his owner's 28 room Tudor mansion. The cat has spent the day roaming its halls and searching its rooms for that pesky pm mouse. 27 of the rooms have been cleared, but, as he approaches the door of the last and 28th room, he begins to detect the faint odor of mouse sweat and urine! The fur on the back of Bessler cat is beginning to bristle, his nostrils are flaring, and his eyes bulging. He's entering the room and preparing for a quick and tasty kill! Stay tuned for the exciting and quite satisfying results next time...hopefully.

    1. Nice gravity wheel, Antonio. I did not notice any slowing in its rotation rate during the 15 minute video, but, then again, I did not notice any increase either. I like the way you covered the sides with plastic, but left a clear portion in the center so one can look into the wheel. I assume you have weights on the ends of long levers that radiate out from a central hub. Well, I hope you have something that actually works. Good luck with it.

    2. Thank you. The wheel is a simple device for converting energy, potential energy into kinetic energy.
Does not violate any laws of physics, there is no deception it 'forcing.
Its operation can help us understand other things unexplained.
I hope in a understandable translation.

  4. The potential of the wheel is the I/O F*d difference - the magnitude of the excess force, multiplied by the angular or linear displacement that force accomplishes.

Increasing the radius raises the displacement component of the excess F*d integral, and extending the width of a wheel or multiplying them along an axle, raises the force.

So the degree of asymmetry could range from slight, to full (a fully asymmetric interaction has full output force but zero input force over the same displacement), and the absolute values of F and d are arbitrary, within space constraints.

So the size limit is obvious, but what about the degree of asymmetry? Even if practical concerns also seem to limit the amount of asymmetry, are these engineering challenges, or fundamental physical constraints?

Can other fields besides gravity be used to apply the principle? If so then even a very narrow EM asymmetry could be thousands of times more energetic than a big GPE difference, and technically, millions.

Because JC is confirming Bessler's suggestions that increasing the width raises the output, and also Bessler's claim that the performance was a function of radius, it seems indisputable that the excess work is gravitational (GPE / GMH), and that magnetic force can thus be used instead.

The central point is that Bessler's mechanism is just a mechanism. It performs an asymmetric interaction mechanically, NOT by manipulating the properties of fields themselves. This is a critical distinction, implying that the same principle can be applied to ANY force field, including those that CAN be directly manipulated.

A more provocative question right now would be whether or not it can be done purely electronically, with no mechanical moving parts. Electrons have mass, inductors can force them around, the signs, timings and magnitudes of the forces are accurately controllable, the electric and magnetic components independently...

In terms of fundamental physics, it matters only that there's a door ajar. Wresting it further open is just a matter of engineering.

    1. In the design for Bessler's wheels that I am pursuing there is only one way to increase the torque: one must increase the mass of the weights and the levers. They both must be raised at the same time and in a specific ratio with respect to each other. Just increasing the radius of a wheel is not enough to increase torque if these changes are not also made. Also, the distance of the lever fulcrum pivots from the center of the axle is irrelevant. Bessler opted to make larger and large diameter wheels because that allowed him to use larger and heavier weights and levers to increase their torque.

Btw, Vibe, did you make any progress with your efforts to duplicate that interesting little electrostatic pm motor we discussed in the last blog? I guess not or you would have announced it by now. I also can not get that "Dominant Flywheel" device out of my mind mentioned in the last blog. It uses a single flat spring and manages to run continuously. I'm wondering what would happen if one used a larger flywheel on a longer axle that had several cams located on both sides of the flywheel that engaged a similar number of springs. Might it be possible to get the flywheel to actually accelerate or begin performing significant external work?

      Delete
  5. The "dominant flywheel" exhibits a marked acceleration when positioned over a specific spot on the tabletop, indicating a pulse coil hidden beneath. From the sounds alone it clearly demonstrates significant energy, so what's more likely - that a hitherto unnoticed asymmetry between a spring and flywheel could be generating it, or else that the 'sweet spot' on the table pinpoints the location of a sly coil? I wouldn't waste further time on it.

The "electrostatic motor" i completed on Saturday afternoon. I built a lathe to grind a perfect rotor, after previous attempts using hand tools hadn't faired well (the axle hole in a polystyrene disk is too soft and deforms under load).

The technique i came up with involved 'coring' out a hole using a thin drinking straw, and then seating a pair of good roller bearings in the ends of a short length of a thicker McDonalds' straw (after picking the best two bearings from two packs of twenty). Then i stretched open one end of another McDonalds' straw, and fitted it over the prepared axle, and then extruded the other end over a candle, so that it tapered into a thin point. Then i simply threaded the axle into the hole and removed the 'guide' straw, resulting in a snugly-fitting axle that lightly squezes the surrounding foam, making it tight and firm.

I then carefully adorned it with identical aluminium foil strips, using a stick of paper glue, after accurately marking out the positions on the rotor. Lastly, i applied progressively-smaller pieces of Sellotape to the rim for final balancing - the last piece less than a square millimeter in size, so the rotor is milligram-sensitive.

Its wind-down times are excellent for the low amount of mass there - it keeps going and going until it's so slow the movement is almost imperceptible. It's so light, with such low friction, i can spin it up just by waving a hand over it.

So i'm satisfied it's well within the threshold of being able to detect any torque at all, certainly anything like the kinds of torques the original video demonstrated. I think it's probably a darnsight more sensetive than his build...

I finished the base in polystyrene too, and didn't bother with painting one side of the rotor black - it just seemed silly in the end. If i'd detected any torque at all, i might've done so, but nada. Nothing, nill. No torque, no directional bias in the wind downs...

I tried a variety of parts for the horizontal conductors, magnetised and not, including what appeared to be good matches for the materials in the video (that bronzed-steel often used in power sockets, dunno what it's called).

I've concluded It's fake. The theory makes no sense, and couldnt explain an asymmetry even if there was one. Which, as the experiment clearly shows, there definitely isn't.

At a guess, maybe he was trying to wrangle his wife into letting him use the spare bedroom as a workshop, but she wasn't having it because he's got the shed, and anyway her sister Gladys sometimes stays over, and he never liked her anyway so he's not getting rid of her that easily. But then a lightbulb goes off in his head, he's suddenly realised the solution to real perpetual motion, and how to kill two birds with one stone.. so he builds it, posts it, and says "look dear, didn't i tell you?" and she's all like "oh deary i always believed in you" etc. etc.; he gets the spare room,we all get a big wind up and Gladys gets the shed.

If that seems a little unlikely, it's still inordinately more probable than the likelihood he's genuine. It's a shame, as ever when they inevitably fall through, but it had all the hallmarks of a claim i like to test - a simple experiment, and a supposed operating principle... and occassionally some of these are more persistent. Also i've learnt a few tricks for better lightweight rotors, so that's bound to come in handy.

    1. Yes, yes...but, did you try using a length of wire to electrically connect the pointed conductors on the ascending side with the concave conductor on the descending side? I don't see how it could operate continuously unless there is a small flow of electrons between these conductors which, of course, must be of different metals if a voltage is to created between them.

      Delete
    2. Also, Vibe, if interconnecting the two types of conductors in the base of the device does not result in it running, try this diagnostic test. Remove the interconnecting wire and then interconnect the two types of electrodes through that galvanometer you mentioned you had. Then, manually give the disk a spin. Check to see if there is a pulsating dc current flowing between the electrodes with the pulses corresponding to the passage of the aluminum strips of the disk past the electrodes. If there is absolutely no current, then this device is just another youtube hoaxed pm video, unfortunately.

    3. I tried applying battery power to my conductors/ramp etc. - it had no effect! I'll mention again his 'fat axels' - have you ever seen the size of vibrate motors in cell-phones? - they are tiny! I have just measured one from a really old phone - more than 10 years old - and that is only 5mm in diameter. The ones in new cell-phones are probably much smaller - I wouldn't know, I still only have the same phone I bought in 2006, so don't know how the tech has progressed! But you could easily stick one of those 5mm ones in one of his fat-axels, probably a button-cell battery as well. Very easy to 'replicate' if the motor is spinning continuously I imagine.

      Delete
    4. Well, if you actually energized your conductors, then the design should have work if it was not a hoax. However, did you apply the voltage with the correct polarity? I think that the pointed conductors must be positively charged and the concave conductor must be negatively charged. Also, I think that the pointed conductors have to actually be pointed, that is, have sharp edges on them around which there will be a very strong electric field.

    5. It's likely just a high voltage electrostatic motor with a capacitor hidden in its base. The fellow sounded sincere because he was basically telling the truth about how it operates. He just left out the part about the hidden capacitor as power source - which could be as simple as flat sheets of foil separated by mylar or something and charged up with a high voltage source off camera.

Check out this youtube video where a fellow is using a charged capacitor to power an electrostatic motor as an example:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQh-Y0PEzaE

Here's one of another design where he's using an electrostatic generator instead of a charged capacitor to power it:

    6. Thanks for sharing those interesting videos with us, Dwayne. His devices look very similar to the one I made using a styrofoam coffee cup and just the ends of two wires, one of which was grounded and the other of which I touched an highly charged comb with after using it to vigorously comb my clean, dry hair with. Your suggestion that the guy in the youtube video had a hidden capacitor in the base of his alleged electrostatic pm motor is certainly interesting and, after seeing the links you provided, looks plausible. So, if he did and did not reveal this, then, obviously, he is a hoaxer. However, I'm wondering if he might not be aware that his device is not pm, but believes it is. It would not be the first time in the history of pm that someone actually thought the motion they were seeing, usually for only short time intervals, is pm when, in fact, it is not. I'm wondering if the two electrodes, on the ascending and descending sides of the disc, together with the wooden base constitute the capacitor and, somehow, he is charging up the electrodes without realizing it. Maybe, as he sets the device up, his hand negatively charged from him having walked about on the carpeting of the room he is using, and he then transfers this negative charge to the concave conductor on the disc's descending side. If he does not touch the two pointed conductors when he puts the disc onto its vertical supports, then these conductors would be positive compared to the concave conductor and there might be enough of a voltage difference between the two conductors to make his little electrostatic motor run for a few minutes. He does not mention in the video how long he has tested the device. For all we know, it may never have run more than 5 minutes when he showed it off to friends. This is one of the problems that Bessler had. His public demonstrations never showed a wheel running for more than an hour and that was just not long enough to convinced skeptics that he had, in fact, found "the" design that worked.

    7. As I'm sure Vibrator would agree, once you take the time to actually replicate the thing, and witness how it behaves, there is then no longer any doubt at all, at least in your own mind, that this is a fake. To get this thing to spin electrostatically would require a lot of work. It much easier to believe that there's a motor spinning that thing. I have also got a 'rotor' to spin electrostatically, but nothing like that guy shows. Speaking of electrostatic motors, here's a nice one that actually works - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMK0dEKWJdY

    8. @Ken - as Omelete says, having played with one, a very sensitive one at that, there's definitely no torque. If there was the tiniest amount, i'd see a clear wind down difference in one direction.

If charges were moving (just redistributing in the rotor foils like he said) then i'd've noticed some kind of magnetic interaction (i tried N42 neos).

But how could that supposed charge separation even work - one of the first things he points out is that normally, free charge is homogenously distributed? So how could the rotor plates maintain a charge separation throughout the >200° angle between the stators, even at low RPM? I mean, even if there was some kind of hysteresis due to impedance / reactance effects, there would be a speed dependence and thus upper and lower RPM bounds - a 'sweet spot' rather than a clean torque curve.

One of the more exciting areas in condensed matter physics in recent years has been the novel properties of thin film materials - edge currents and surface plasmon polaritons etc. - but the discovery of some kind of electrical remanence effect in Bacofoil would almost eclipse a PMM.

I haven't bothered with the galvanometer as it's a big old antique and not worth the hassle for such a silly claim. I didn't try interconnecting the stators because likewise, any further analysis seems unwarranted - there is no effect to play with, and besides, shorting the stators would have no effect, either from standard theory, or the one offered in the demo - which was that the charge separations causing the torques are within the rotor foils, and caused by the alternating axial / radial stator proximities.

Since the theory offered relates only to electrostatics - apparently only the relative shapes and locations of the stators matters, and as noted, there's no apparent speed dependence - the claim can be reduced to a single, stationary sample of foil, with the two other metal samples placed as directed - one edge-on, the other face-on: which should result in a voltage, albeit one which presumably doesn't induce a current (or else we'd instantly have free DC!).. so attempting to "short" any of these parts together with extra wires doesn't really help prospects... It'd be more worthwhile shorting the claimed electrical poles together and looking for that free DC..

@Omelete - i've never played with a phone motor so don't even know what they look like, but an axle motor seems the likeliest explanation. I'd estimate the minimum power demonstrated in his video to be around 100mW, and my rotor's sensitive to a fraction of this.

Might post up a short vid of it later, though it all seems a bit pointless now.... I'm much more focused on Bessler right now..

  6. Update. I reached model # 1250 this morning. I now have a model where the 9:00 going to 10:30 lever is perfectly counter balanced by the spring suspended weighted levers that lead it. Now I have to find at least two lifter rope connections to the 9:00 lever that will make it "rise in a flash" as the drum rotates and the 7:30 going to 9:00 lever swings in toward the axle. I'm still confident that it can be done and that is how Bessler managed to achieve pm. However, if I can not find it in, say, the next 50 models, then that will probably spell the end of my future involvement in Bessler research. One can only whip a dead horse so long before his arm tires or the whip breaks or he becomes repulsed by the sight of horse puree!

Bessler cat is convinced he now has that pesky pm mouse trapped in a room from which there is no exit. As a precaution, a day earlier, the cat went around to each of the mansion's 28 rooms an carefully plugged up all possible mouse escape routes. The cat is now in the last room where the odor of mouse sweat and urine is strongest. He notices some sort of activity behind an object in the corner of the room. He starts running toward it with his heart pounding with excitement. He's been preparing for this moment all of his life. It's now or never. He leaps and is headed directly for the spot where he thinks the mouse is lurking. Will he have finally victory (and a snack!) or defeat? To be continued...

  7. Check out this unbelievable 3D animation for the piece by piece assembly of a gravity wheel in which the weights are pushed toward the center of the wheel by a ramp while, on the other side, centrifugal force raises them back up to the rim again. An electric motor is used to start the device up after which, presumably, the device becomes self-running and can then turn the motor which acts as a generator. Of course, this is not a simulation, but only an animation and that means that there is no guarantee it will work in reality. The problem with this device is that, most likely, the amount of energy required to lift the weights back against gravity and centrifugal force on the wheel's lower side will be exactly equal to the loss of gravitational potential energy of the weights during wheel rotation due to their displaced CoM so that no overunity or pm is achieved. But, it's certainly fun to watch and the graphics put wm2d to shame.

  8. Does anyone know off-hand the equivalent Watts-out from one of Bessler's most powerful wheels? I'm sure that has been asked 1000's of times already! Also, does anyone have an opinion on the 'RAR Energia Gravity Motor' - http://peswiki.com/index.php/Directory:RAR_Energia_Ltda_Gravity_Motor - to me, it seems inconceivable that this doesn't work. Who would post full-page adverts in the Brazilian press, while also building not one, but two MASSIVE prototypes!!! The only thing more gobsmacking than the size of the prototypes was the PUNY power they were supposed to be capable of producing - only a measly 30KW.

Rar Energia, like so many others have apparently fallen into a black-hole somewhere - they were supposed to have a big unveiling in Jun/Jul 2014, but not a word was heard from them again...

    1. I have done calculations that indicate that the Kassel wheel was outputting at least 25 watts to run the Archimedean water screw. Because of the additional power consuming drag in the pulley system Bessler used to run the water pump, the total continuous power output of the wheel was probably in the range of 30 to 50 watts.

    2. Wow, I'm amazed that it could have been so little! I was playing with the car today and noted that turning the blower fan on full pulled an additional 20 amps from the battery - that about 250W just for a pissy little DC motor! And there was Bessler hauling relatively heavy weights with just a few Watts!!! That said, I remember reading on a physics forum that theoretically at least it is possible to lift a tonne one meter with an AA battery - yep, quick search, here it is - https://www.physicsforums.com/threads/aa-battery-to-lift-1000kg-up-1meter.440541/ - who would have guessed.

    3. Yes, that is why I don't believe much will ever come of Bessler's wheels in terms of them becoming useful sources of power for the modern world. They are just too weak and, in order to make them strong, one is forced to construct very large rotating machines. You can easily get 50 watts out of a single solar panel. The only advantage I see to Bessler's wheels is that, obviously, they can run continuously, day or night, rain or shine, which is certainly nice. But, when one objectively weighs their positives against their negatives, he soon realizes that the negatives outweigh the positives. I pursue a solution just to solve this perplexing historical mystery, prove pm is possible, and, of course, show Bessler was an honest man after all.

  10. Update. A few hours ago I reached model # 1257 and...still no success. But, I'm learning a little more with each failure. It seems the new main rope attachment point to the levers has so perfectly counter balanced them that I can now get the levers from 9:00 on to begin "rising in a flash" toward their rim stops. Unfortunately, there is still an annoying delay before this rapid shifting action takes place and during that delay the model's CoM will fly right over to the wheel's ascending side where it must not go. I'm now experimenting with the idea of using two separate lifter ropes. One will be the current one I have that "kicks in" toward the end of a 45 degree segment of drum rotation and the other will be one that kicks in immediately at the beginning of the segment. If this works, then maybe that damn CoM will finally stay put on the wheel's descending side. There's got to be a way to do it and, most importantly, a way that is suggested by the DT portrait clues which I continue to study.

Just as Bessler cat made his leap toward the pm mouse, something quite unexpected happened. The lights in the sealed room suddenly went out and he was plunged into total pitch darkness! Apparently, a local thunderstorm's lightning bolt hit a power line and the grid reacted by shutting down the power to the mansion that the cat and mouse now occupy. Now both cat and mouse are on an "even" playing field of sorts. The mouse is small, extremely intelligent (for a mouse), and moves very quickly. He is also thoroughly familiar with all possible hiding places in the room. Bessler cat is, of course, is much larger and stronger, but he now has certain handicaps to contend with. His recent brain surgery has weakened one side of his body so as to impair his mobility and he is also deaf in one ear and blind on one side of each of his eyes' visual fields. But, his sense of smell is still very sensitive. He now detects a strong mouse scent in one corner of the room and is headed there slowly and stealthily. He is moving up on the pm mouse on padded feet that emit no impact sounds with each step he takes. The scent is getting stronger as he is confident he will soon be have his prey right where he wants him: between his claws and then between his tightly clenched jaws! Stay tuned for the, hopefully, final episode in this series.

I'm happy if I can find the time to post some material that some might find of interest as they chase pm. Things, however, could really get exciting around here if I can finally announce that I've found the secret of Bessler's wheels! Then the sky is the limit! For the moment all I can offer is amusing cat and mouse stories.

    3. But, doug, without Bessler John would not be here! My posts are only intended to give readers a general idea of the direction my Bessler research is heading and, as you note, they will tend to sound similar to a certain degree. That is why I try to interject a occasional youtube link or analysis of how various other types of pm devices might work. No, my books are not about cats and mouses. They are intended for readers who want to explore various topics at a far deeper than usual level. They are not really for the masses who are only looking for some "light" reading. There are plenty of other authors supplying that sort of material.

  13. I must apologise to those kind people who return here time after time, hoping I think, to see some details of the work I've been doing for the last few years, towards a successful reconstruction of Bessler's wheel.

The research and development continue, but it is almost entirely restricted to the document about the wheel that I am busy writing. The house sale means that I cannot work on my wheel to finish at present. Everything has to be kept tidy and clean ready for viewing by any potential buyers and the only place I can work is on the computer. The wheel prototype is hidden from prying eyes and getting it out and on to the work bench to continue assembly of the parts is too time consuming and requires too much tidying up afterwards, so I've agreed to concentrate on the written account of the wheel, until a buyer has made an acceptable offer. Then I can get back to work on it and finish it.

I'm away again for a couple of weeks and although I'd like to keep writing my blog I may have to put it to sleep again for a short period.

While I appreciate your efforts to keep the narrative flowing Ken, this is my blog and not yours, (in case anyone should feel confused about that), so once again, may I ask you to to reduce the length of your comments and also the frequency of them. Although you may think that we are all on tenterhooks to hear the latest on your progress towards model # 2000, in effect your progress, or lack of it, mirrors what happened to me for several years and also seems to be similar to Trevor, of 'a working wheel is only days away' fame.

I really do not understand why you do not have your own blog, Ken. You say you could have one, so why not? I understand that my blog would end up a quarter of the size it is now without your comments, but there is a reason why I have little to say at present. I am very pre-occupied with life outside of this little community as I have explained before, but when the wheel and/or the document is finished, then there will be plenty to say. But for now why write just to fill an empty space? When I have something to write then I write it and hope it entertains and generates discussion, but after several years of the blog, there is little to write unless something new occurs, either in or outside this community, That 'something new' will most likely be that someone, somewhere has discovered the secret. As you know, I am satisfied that I have found it, so full details will be published when I'm ready. The ''when' part refers to either a 'working proof of principle wheel', or that I have given in to the difficulties of completing construction and publishing everything.

    1. Sounds like you are very busy and distracted at the moment and that is negatively affecting your input on this blog. Well, you suggested a shutdown and that is certainly an option, but I suspect that a lot of people who visit here daily would, again, go into withdrawal as a result. Also, sorry about the frequency / length of my posts. I will continue to try to minimize them.

Update. This morning I reached model # 1255 and have an idea for a really unusual placement of one of the lifter ropes in the design that, hopefully, will result, finally, in that 9:00 going to 10:30 lever "rising in a flash". Thank God that wm2d allows me to track the location of a wheel's CoM which is critically important to determining if one has finally found "it" or not. Oh, what happened to Bessler cat? He did make it to the spot were the pm mouse had been, but the pesky rodent had moved on and only left some "fragrant" mouse scat behind...not what the cat wanted! The persistent feline continues to search the pitch dark room.

  14. If this blog is shut down, then where else is there to announce a working wheel ! There are very few free energy sites on the internet, the main free energy site on the internet is run by a *********, it is called peswiki and I am not going there with the working bessler wheel .

  15. So, you could do what others have not and create a working wheel, but you can't do what children can do and create your own web page?

    2. If you're resourceful enough to think you can solve PM, then you should be resourceful enough to get yourself a presence on the Internet without glomming on to somebody else. Forget about free energy sites. That's where people go to feed their ego whilst they are days away from having the solution. If someone has something that actually works, then just move on to the regular media and demonstrate the thing once and for all.

    3. If one wants to set up a quick and, most importantly, free website, just go over to tripod.com (which is where I went to set up my site after having one too many "bad" experiences at other "free" website hosts. Set up account there which takes about one minute and then use the various templates they have to construct your site. You don't even have to know html to do it and you can make a very attractive, professional looking website in no time. Too much trouble? Then do like John did an go to blogspot.com and set up a free blog there.

  17. Update. I had a rather slow testing session this morning, mainly due to a very tiring day yesterday. A good friend of mine was again admitted to hospital with a condition that had worsened and I find my concerns about him very distracting. Anyway, I did a little bit of testing on two of my latest model wheels and am beginning to become very convinced that there is yet another very critical lifter rope in Bessler's design of whichI had previously been completely unaware. I have found a few DT portrait clues that seem to indicate this finally missing piece of the puzzle, but I still have much work to do to see if this could be what my designs have been lacking that prevented their CoM's from staying where they must in a "proper" imbalanced pm wheel: on the descending side at all times. The Bessler cat continues to prowl around the final pitch dark room of the mansion. He picks up faint traces of pm mouse body odor every once in a while, but none seem strong enough to indicate an exact location for the mouse. Now it is time for the cat to take a brief nap. Soon, he will awaken fresh and ready to continue the hunt.

  18. Remember that electrostatic pm motor that everyone was so excited about in the last blog or two? Well, here's a nice little video that shows how it may have been faked.

  19. Yet another video that the pm chasers out there should consider. Note that his design appears to always out of balance, yet does not run! The reason? It's simple. As the large four arm wheel rotates and the weight, a metal bolt, inside of the white gear at the end of one of the arms begins to rotate about its smaller white gear's axle, the weight is actually continuously raised up although it's not obvious from viewing its motion. The result is that any gravitational potential energy lost by the weight as it revolves around the four arm wheel's axle is immediately used to raise it with respect to its own smaller axle! Thus, there is no unused net lost gravitational potential energy left over to accelerate the large four arm wheel. The entire construction is, as the video demonstrates, always in balance regardless of what location the smaller bolt weight is at. In a genuine imbalanced pm wheel, the amount of GPU lost by weights as they travel around the wheel's axle must be slightly more than the amount needed to reset those weights to their starting orientations. Unless that happens, the device can not output any of the energy associated with the mass of its moving parts. I'm also very impressed with the quality of his build. He says that his gears are "printed" and I am not familiar with that technique probably because my design's for Bessler's wheels do not use gears.

    1. You are not familiar with the term "printed" because you don't build anything! You just arrange your bits of dead horse based on what you see in an inkblot.

    2. Actually, I did do much "hands on" construction in the past and eventually realized how very time wasting and unproductive it can be. Whenever I see a "inkblot" or printing anomaly in one of the DT portraits, I have to decide what its significance is. I have now reached the conclusion that there are no actual "anomalies" in the portraits. Everything in them was under the direct control of Bessler: either to give the reverse engineer a genuine helpful clue or to confuse and frustrate his efforts. He never intended to just give away the secret in those portraits. One has to dig for them one at a time through a forest of deception. Only, maybe, one in a million reverse engineers will have what it takes to successful complete the task Bessler has set before him. Any apparent anomalies signal me that a particular portion of the portraits is one that Bessler spent much time on and is worthy of my extensive scrutiny. Only very careful testing of each anomaly's possible meaning can allow the reverse engineer to separate the wheat from the chaff. The vast majority of those trying to solve the secret of the Bessler wheel mystery have no hope of success. Others are working with mostly chaff. The person who is finally successful will be the one who has found enough of the wheat Bessler left us. I concentrate on finding that wheat.

    3. Better way is to learn from own made mistakes, why this will not work, where is the problem and how it can be fixed or do littlebit differently. For this for is also good to look MT drawings and learn something from them, do not make same things (mistakes, over and over again) shown there, as Bessler it self suggests. I agree here that for best and fastest way for first tests, learning and fixings are today bits and bytes. Also there can be 100% sure that someone, somewhere allready have figured out or/and tested almost correct innerstucture, but somewhere was some small mistake and final conclusion was ... "This do not work as well..".
To KB: Why is you reason to stop and look clues only in portraits, if this is not a secret?! In my studies main secret lies in other places and in portraits are only some small amount of them.

    4. I have gone over all of the various "clues" that have been extracted from the Bessler literature and the sad fact is that none of them has led to a successful duplication of Bessler's wheels. That means to me that the real clues are somewhere else. Very little serious analysis of the DT portraits clues has been done because, unfortunately, they can not be analyzed by merely looking at them. One must simultaneously be making one modification after another to some basic design and seeing whether a particular interpretation of a particular DT clue is getting one closer or farther from the desired goal: a design for a wheel that manages to keep the CoM of its weights and levers always on the wheel's descending side as the wheel rotates. By adhering strictly to the DT portrait clues, I am making progress although it is much slower than I'd like it to be. I'm hoping I'll finally find success before the end of this year.

    1. "Printing" parts via computer is fine, but I doubt if it will work for large constructions like 12 foot diameter wheels. There will still be a need for carpentry and handcrafting when such wheels are eventually duplicated. I also have zero regrets about not working on physical prototypes myself. Been there, done that and remain firmly convinced that my present research methods are the only ones that will ever solve the Bessler wheel mystery.

  21. Update. I had a very productive, though tiring computer modeling session this morning and have made it to model # 1257. I previously mentioned that I believed there was an additional coordinating rope incorporated into Bessler's wheel design that is critical to maintaining descending side CoM stability during wheel rotation. After testing about a dozen potential candidates, I have narrowed the field down to only two possibilities. It seems like they both would help fulfill Bessler's description of his wheels being "stingy" or "greedy" which means that their mechanics did not waste a single scrap of available lost GPE in order to achieve the pm effect. This additional rope I am now pursuing apparently helps achieve this and thereby more robustly raises the 9:00 going to 10:30 lever's weights toward their rim stop. I have a preliminary model finished and ready for testing. I should know in a few days if I'm right. So far, the extra rope I've inserted seems to tap that extra source of lost GPE at just the right time as the wheel turns through a 45 degree segment of drum rotation. I have a very good feeling about this modification!

Bessler cat has awoken from his slumper and is quite refreshed now. The room he and the pm mouse occupy is still blacked out due to a local power failure, but the cat is again detecting a strong rodent odor coming from the direction of one of the room's corners. Bessler cat is now headed in that direction and he's beginning to salivate profusely!

    2. And I wonder how many here would be happy not to hear from anonymous posters again who, lacking anything of value to contribute to the search for the secret of Bessler's wheels, are only here (and on other sites) looking for entertainment and get annoyed when it's not delivered in a form that is satisfying to them. If anyone is bored by my posts, then simply ignore them and feel free to change the direction of the blog topics discussion with something that you think will be more interesting to the blog members. I'd certain welcome that, but, for some reason, it rarely seems to be delivered because, ultimately, most anonymous posters only get satisfaction by criticizing the efforts of others. In the long run, they will achieve nothing relevant to Bessler's wheels.

    4. Sorry, John, if I'm starting to "slip" again with regards to the length and frequency of my posts here. I think maybe I'll take a break for a week or two from here so that others can have more of an opportunity to contribute. Of course, I will still continue with my wheel research which seems to be entering a new phase now that I've discovered that extra rope in the design. I'm a bit distracted and concerned at the moment anyway due to the recent hospitalization of a good friend of mine. See everybody in a few weeks. Bessler cat says "meow meooow yeoow" which translates into "I will also continue my relentless hunt for that annoying pm mouse". Pm mouse says "squeek squeeky squeek" which translates into "That dumb cat will never catch me!"

    5. Lacking anything of value is subjective isn't it? You are convinced you have something of value, others think you are full of it.

Funnily enough, Ken, you don't contribute anything either. No matter how convinced you are. All you do is tell people that you've found another "clue" that you haven't seen before. After all the clues you've missed being a self-proclaimed expert at portrait interpretation, why should anyone believe you are close to anything?

You don't explain these clues, how you arrived at finding them, where they are to be found, nor how they fit in to a design that you also don't show.

If you think that all of that is so important and people will want to read about it, then put it on your own damn blog and let people know where to go to follow you. The idea that you think you are needed to spice up John's blog with all of this drivel is just astounding!

    1. I'm not trying to ignore John, it's just that I find the search for the secret of Bessler's imbalanced pm wheels so interesting, especially if I find anything that looks significant, that it is hard for me to not want to share it with others. The best way to "respect" John and his pioneering efforts to bring the fullest details of the Bessler story to the modern pm chaser is to continue the search for the secret of Bessler's wheels. I'm cautiously optimistic that I may finally have "it" before the end of this year. I truly believe that I'm now only one correct rope placement away from finally achieving the pm effect. Quite bizarrely, in order to duplicate Bessler's wheels, one must literally become Bessler and retrace each step he made, including the false ones, over the course of a decade. It takes a tremendous amount of commitment and effort to do this, but I am determined to achieve it and to do it while I'm still healthy enough to produce a book on the subject. See you in a couple of weeks.

  24. So now that Ken is gone we can get back to the topic.
Bessler's mechanism could be made more powerful - if we knew what the mechanism was. How do you know it couldn't be made more powerful by making the levers longer? You don't. No one knows what could be done to make it more powerful because no one knows how it worked at all. You believe it's a gravity wheel; if that was true, then making the levers longer or the weights heavier should make it more powerful. Isn't that how gravity works?
If such didn't make it more powerful, as John said in HIS blog post, then Bessler making it bigger and heavier just made it a bigger flywheel.
We only have Bessler's wheels and demonstrations from which to estimate potential power output and possible improvement. From the many, many discussions on the BW forum and here about their power output, it seems the wheels were on the very low end of the power to weight spectrum.
That suggests that the mechanism, whatever it was, isn't practical in any form, either bigger, heavier, or lined up alongside each other.
It would still be interesting to know what it was he was doing to get them to turn, though.
