The Legend of Johann Bessler’s Perpetual Motion Machine.

I put this brief account of Johann Bessler’s wheel on my blog from time to time just in case someone stumbles upon my blog and wants a quick reminder of his life and his machine.  I remain convinced that the time is right, in fact it’s almost perfect, for the arrival of a solution to Bessler’s wheel. Regardless of the doubts being cast about the potential power in Bessler’s wheel, it is surely worthwhile examining, developing and up-scaling a successful working model.

It is remarkable how very apposite a solution to Bessler’s wheel would be right now considering the urgency in dealing with the climate change, reducing the burning of fossil fuels and all the promises to reduce carbon emissions by such and such date.

The Truth Behind the Legend of Bessler’s Wheel and the Orffyrean Code

On 6th June, 1712, in Germany, Johann Bessler (also known by his pseudonym, Orffyreus) announced that after many years of failure, he had succeeded in designing and building a perpetual motion machine.  For more than fourteen years he exhibited his machine and allowed people to thoroughly examine it.  Following advice from the famous scientist, Gottfried Leibniz, he devised a number of demonstrations and tests designed to prove the validity of his machine without giving away the secret of its design.

Karl the Landgrave of Hesse permitted Bessler to live, work and exhibit his machine at the prince's castle of Weissenstein.  Karl was a man of unimpeachable reputation and he insisted on being allowed to verify the inventor's claims before he allowed Bessler to take up residence  This the inventor reluctantly agreed to and once he had examined the machine to his own satisfaction Karl authorised the  publication of his approval of the machine.  For several years Bessler was visited by numerous people of varying status, scientists, ministers and royalty as well as hundreds of  local inhabitants.  Several official examinations were carried out and each time the examiners concluded that the inventor's claims were genuine.

Over the years Karl’s health began to deteriorate and his sons decided that it was time for the inventor to leave the castle and he was given five years salary and accommodation in the nearby town of Karlshaven. Despite the strong circumstantial evidence that his machine was genuine, Bessler failed to secure a sale and after more than thirty years he died in poverty.  His death came after he fell from a windmill he had been commissioned to build.  The windmill was an interesting design using a vertical axle which allowed it to benefit from winds from any directions.

He had asked for a huge sum of money for the secret of his perpetual motion machine, £20,000 which was an amount only affordable by kings and princes, and it’s no coincidence that this sum matched that being offered by the British Government as a reward for the invention of a way to establish a ship’s longitudinal position  at sea.  Bessler clearly believed his invention was equal in value.  Many people were interested in Bessler’s wheel, but none were prepared to agree to the terms of the deal. Bessler required that he be given the money and the buyer take the machine without viewing the internal workings.  Those who sought to purchase the wheel, for that was the form the machine took, insisted that they see the secret mechanism before they parted with the money. Bessler feared that once the design was known the buyers could simply walk away knowing how to build his machine and he would get nothing for his trouble.  He said that a bag of money should be put on the table and the buyer could take the wheel there and then.  He swore that if he was found cheating he should be beheaded, a not unlikely result if he was found to be a fraud and deceiving his ruler.

I became curious about the legend of Bessler’s Wheel, while still in my teens, and have spent most of my life researching the life of Johann Bessler (I’m now 75).  I obtained copies of all his books and had them translated into English and self-published them, in the hope that either myself or someone else might solve the secret and present it to the world in this time of pollution, global warming and increasingly limited energy resources.

This problem of acceptance by his potential buyers was anticipated by Bessler and he took extraordinary measures to ensure that his secret was safe, but he encoded all the information needed to reconstruct the machine in a small number of books that he published. He implied that he was prepared to die without selling the secret and that he believed that post humus acknowledgement was preferable to being robbed of his secret while he yet lived.

It has recently become clear that Bessler had a huge knowledge of the history of codes and adopted several completely different ones to disguise information within his publications.  I have made considerable advances in deciphering his codes and I am cautiously optimistic that I have the complete design.

Johann Bessler published three books, and digital copies of these with English translations may be obtained from the links to the right of this blog.  In addition there is a copy of his unpublished document containing some 141 drawings, his account of the search for perpetual motion - and my own account of Bessler’s life is also available from the links.  It is called "Perpetual Motion; An Ancient Mystery Solved?"

Bessler's three published books are entitled "Grundlicher Bericht", "Apologia Poetica" and "Das Triumphirende...". I have called Bessler's collection of 141 drawings his Maschinen Tractate, but it was originally found in the form of a number of loosely collected drawings of perpetual motion designs. Many of these have handwritten notes attached and I have published the best English translation of them that I was able to get. Bessler never published these drawings but clearly intended to do so at some

I and thousands of others around the world believe that Johann Bessler’s claim to have designed and built a perpetual motion machine, or a continuously rotating device enabled purely by gravity, was genuine.  The circumstantial evidence is compelling.  This device if reconstructed now, could potentially provide cheap clean electricity, and by reducing the need for fossil fuels, provide a huge step forward in reducing carbon emissions in a very short time.

  2. JC sir...

It is very unfortunate that you don't believe in Karma... Well, you can't really be blamed for this entirely... This could be due to your geographical reason...I can only suggest you veryify this matter and rethink...

If I am not wrong Bessler did believe in all this...and, if so,any person representing Bessler in next birth, for that matter, should remain a bit spiritual, essentially... but you are an atheist...then this indicates you can't be a Bessler Avatar...

The fear of heights has to be very intense...I am not sure how much you really Dread heights..

For my information sake, could you please tell me why you don't believe in life's intricacies...I mean reincarnation and there being a supreme being... the creator, etc.,

Please take it from me that if Bessler believed in all this then he would certainly do so in future life as well...

All his sufferings and anguish and dreams and efforts simply can't go to another individual...

One should do soul research before carrying out such researches as PM mystery...

I am anxious to know about your deepest belief and views...

  3. Ken...

Infact, I don't want to get into an argument with you but the 'Y' shaped lever being shown by you doesn't make any sense to me...

I appreciate your honest efforts but, frankly speaking, they don't mean anything...I can think of Bessler Wheel without this Y shaped levers..

You can be convinced only when someone succeeds in recreating the BW....

Or there's one other way of clearing this doubt...We should meet face to face and sort it out in a very logical way...

This is because the matter is such that even Karl or Bessler couldn't succeed in convincing the buyers at that time...you and me or even JC sir are just no match...

Hence, this difficulty in convincing the world...

Many great Goodly individuals like Jesus and Buddha too failed in their mission...

Hope you understand all this and also my request to you not to make this blog by behaving in a cheap manner...

JC sir's patience should not be tried this way...We must behave well so that the goal of this blog is achieved...

If only you can change yourself a bit every thing will improve...

Pls have an open mind and try to see the big picture...

Pls keep your comments Short and Sweet...

I have trouble going through your large comments... infact, the show is getting spoiled most of the time...

Initially, I considered you were more intelligent than others here, but...

Please don't mistake me...my gut feeling tells that the lever is not Y shaped...

  4. Suresh I appreciate your concern but how on earth can I verify Karma? How can anyone? You believe in it because that is what you were taught, but I was taught to look for evidence in all things, I have found no evidence of karma nor of supernatural being, but I’m aware of other’s personal belief and I’m happy for those who draw comfort from it. I do hold a kind of spirituality which is on more of a scientific basis than religious, and only in areas which I have encountered convincing evidence.

  5. John,
I found this... something similar to what I had mentioned previous:
"If the servant has not been paid to depose against Orffyreus, what does her testimony prove? Only that her master made her believe that by turning a little wheel, she moved the whole machine, and we can fancy a singular character, such as he was might have done this to prevent the curiosity of those who sought to penetrate his secret;"

So we're supposed to believe that Bessler tricked the maid into thinking that his wheel was a hoax so she would then tell everyone that and then no one would try to figure out how it worked?

The problem with that paranoid theory is that if he did that then it could have backfired on him and made a potential buyer decide not to buy his wheel after he heard it was hoaxed! It's far more likely that the maid was convinced by Bessler's opponents that the wheel had to be a fake and that, by lying, she would actually be doing a greater good by preventing him from swindling someone with it. And, of course, a little bribe money would have made her more agreeable to committing such a sin which violates one of the Ten Commandments, "Thou Shall Not Lie".

      Delete
    4. @anon 07:25

"Thou Shall Not Lie" is not actually one of the Ten Commandments. The Ninth Commandment is usually translated as "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor" which is about the same thing. The maid by her testimony was certainly violating that commandment but as you suggest was probably convinced by Bessler's enemies that she'd be forgiven because her lie was helping prevent some bigger future crime by Bessler. How many of us would not lie to protect ourselves or a loved one from being the victim of a crime by some evil person? Evil types often try to use a good person's honesty against him and that is an even bigger evil. Just think of all of the trusting people who are scammed out of millions every year! Muslims are taught that it's okay to lie to infidels or non-Muslims to protect the religion of Islam. It is not considered a sin.

  6. JC sir,

You were very curious in your teens and began your research into bessler's life and his wheel and thus developed a great belief considering all the circumstantial evidence which resulted in your publications of the same... Many people appreciate your efforts still and also you have been in the limelight many times as a result...

Many even now brush off the very mention of PM leave alone Bessler... but you are a staunch believer... always...

It is your belief and research and interest that has produced this results...

If one shows the same attitude and put the same efforts on any subject he would definitely understand and learn many things which appear as a mystery...

Well, understanding, learning, establishing, solving is one thing and getting the fruits or benefits out of the efforts is quite another...

This depends on ones intention which is known as Karma...

    Greed is an evil root...

Bessler didn't live to enjoy the fruits of his efforts... what could be the reason?...

Some are born rich and some lead a miserable life in the bylanes of Mumbai... what could be the reason?...

Some are healthy and some crippled... what could be the reason?...

We are all struggling to finish building the wheel but it is still unclear,,, what could be the reason?...

Does effort alone produce good results?...
    Is there anything missing here?...

Even if one succeeds in building the wheel will he get to enjoy the fruits?...

Are our present efforts correct?...or are we just beating around the bush?...

Is there a possibility of solving the mystery with our combined knowledge?...or, as stated by Robert and Marinus, should we keep toiling alone forever to reap the rewards and recognition?...

  7. "Some are born rich and some lead a miserable life in the bylanes of Mumbai... what could be the reason?..."

It's just due to bad luck and nothing more. There is no such thing as "karma". It's just another way to needlessly blame oneself for his bad luck.

  8. To Suresh...
I have a lot of questions about your started small topic here ...

How those things like reincarnation and karma are "working" ...?!
Is there any possibility that this person will be "somehow" guided to the right path in his life, what he/she must actually "do here"?! Is there provided any "tools" or/and "clues" to this person, that he/she can finalize or continue his mission? Does this mean that this person's life job is to disclose "it" to the world ... only by him? Who finaly "chooses" those lifework tasks, how is it done ?!

    ReplyDelete
  9. PLMKRN... Usually, the pursuit continues life after life until some past good deeds comes to aid...

Good intentions behind every deed is mandatory...

In Bessler's case he finished building the wheel during his life now you can see no one else could reap the fruits yet...

Good past karma acts like guide in present life...he is born again to settle the unfinished job...you may call it luck...

His present life presents appropriate situation to make the job easier...

Your consciousness continues after the body is dead and gets another body as per ones previous good karma or action...

Don't you think Bessler exists in some other body?...

Actually, the law of karma is too complicated and my knowledge is limited...

You never know when good luck or bad luck will strike...

It can appear in any future life and not necessarily during present life or the life after...

But what goes must comes back around... Every action results in reaction...

Whatever we do we will have to face it...as we are solely responsible for our actions...

Bessler died in poverty...he will definitely make some money in this next life provided his intentions are good...if he is still careless some one else may benifit...

Coming to the wheel... there were some screeching or scratching noise heard during demos...is their any valuable clue for us???

As if metal pipes moved one over another...

Many such clues were observed during the trial runs... the banging sounds confirm swinging action...number of banging per revolution the number of weights... the thickness of the wheel should also denote something about the arrangement of weights inside...

You just have to unbalance a perfectly balanced wheel... for this you need to design the internal parts in such a way that they become permanently agitated, I mean restless..

Further, the Gravity will ensure the continuence...

    1. Hello everybody ,

I would like to come back to the one that would be closest to the mechanism of the Bessler wheel, counting the common clues as well as the resolutions to the unsolved mystery. For that, we need the rigor of John obviously.

The indices have already been counted. Some are ambiguous, such as the number of weights (5 or 8). The weights would also be cylindrical I think. We also speak of a crossbar. . . In short, if you think you are on the solution, then you can easily explain certain things that elude us: the famous "A" written in 2 different ways, why Bessler latinized Orffyre and not Bessler. Why are there 2 portraits and especially a hole in the second portrait ... What is the use of the magnifying glass in this second portrait. . .
So if you can answer all of this, then you are on the right track. If you have questions or things that are not in agreement with the writings / drawings, it is that you have a long way to go. . .

By this I mean that it is not by having the solution of one mystery that we will have the global mechanism. You have to know the whole puzzle.

how much mystery have you solved? All or some?

      Robert . . .

    2. I have some answers to your questions Robert, but not all. Some indices are incorrect assumptions or lead to incorrect assumptions. I have enough to have the solution.

    3. Robert wrote "What is the use of the magnifying glass in this second portrait. . ."

When you see anything in the second portrait containing optical lenses such as the eyeglasses, telescope, microscope, or even Bessler's eyes this is Bessler's way of telling you that you must locate the places where those devices are pointing. That's because he has placed some very important information in those places about the parts he used in his wheels. But even knowing that it still takes a tremendous amount of effort to determine what that information is.

    4. Thank you John and Henry ...

The usefulness of the magnifying glass is more subtle than you might think.

I have another question for John: is it possible that the comment "a simple mechanism " could actually be "simply mechanics system
      "?
By that I mean, and going back to the time, that everyone expected something "exotic" like magic, something special, a new kind of energy , with air , mercure . . . and in fact the author wanted to say that his wheel worked mechanically but that did not necessarily mean that the mechanism was simple? This could explain the failure of its rediscovery for 300 years.

Thank for your your knowledge on the subject

    5. Here's a quote from pages 315 to 316 of AP that you may find of interest:

"It took a tremendous amount of calculation before I was able to devise this machine! It took a great deal of time before it was all properly figured out! It’s reached the stage now where even a poor workman could put the thing together without a lot of head scratching and get it completed almost before you could notice. The design has, in fact, progressed to the point where there is nothing supercritical about the exact disposition of the weights...an ounce more or less, here or there, makes not a scrap of difference to the Wheel which will hold its course serenely without “turning a hair”. I thought that it would be best if things were so, my honorable artisans, for in that way, God willing, you’ll go to your labors more happily."

    6. Thank you Anom ,
" It took a great deal of time before it was all properly figured out! " . It s mean that it s not so simple we think .

This suits me because the design I have discovered for so many years is not "a simple lever" which no one has yet imagined the form. Now, and at the risk of repeating myself, I may not have the right solution. As long as a working wheel does not work, all this remains speculation ... and a great adventure ;-)

  10. Hello again John!

I have have a question: Will your wheel make the same banging and clanging noises as Bessler’s wheel did?

Maybe there’s another way to make a wheel that doesn’t make any noise or, very little. Any thoughts on this?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. My wheel will make several noises at each turn. Bessler disguised the noise in some cases by using felt to deaden the sound. I see little point in dampening the noise from my wheel because I’ll be giving the design away, but I’m sure a commercial version could be made almost silent. I know for instance that there were noises which accompanied the rotation of the Kassel wheel, but what was heard was what Bessler allowed them to hear.

      JC

      Delete
    2. Some may find this of interest.

Bessler's wheels made different kinds of sounds as they rotated. For his 12 foot Kassel wheel the most noticed sound was eight thumps per drum rotation which would have been caused by wood levers and their attached lead weights landing on wood stops inside of the drum on its descending side. With nothing attached to its axle it turned at 26 rpms and made 208 thumps per minute. To get an idea of what it would have sounded like if you were up close to its descending side try using this online metronome:

      https://www.online-stopwatch.com/metronome/

After the metronome loads move its slide all the way down to 208 bpm or beats per minute and set it to "Sound 5" which sounds the most like wood hitting wood. This metronome is not fast enough to simulate the thumping sounds from the Merseburg wheel turning at 40 rpms which would have been about 320 bpm!

  11. I can't make out anything much in the portraits... but I know the mechanism is very simple...I also feel that Bessler deliberately inserted a misguiding clue here and there so that it is out of reach of any smart investigator...

But, unfortunately, some of us unsuspecting ones do sometimes fall prey to this ploy...

We further become too excited unrealizing this Bessler trick and also succeed in wooing others too...

The best way to solve the mystery is to first form the concept in mind and check it out with the clues provided by Bessler...

    ReplyDelete
  12. Suresh wrote: "I can't make out anything much in the portraits.."

Those clues are not meant to be easily understood by just casually glancing at the two DT portraits for a minute or so. You have to intensely study them, as Bessler suggests in the second portrait, by using a high power magnifier. Then you have to give possible interpretations to as many of the clues that you think you have found as possible and then use those interpretations in the designs of your wheels which you are constantly building, modifying, and testing. If those clue interpretations fail to make your wheels work better, you must change the interpretations and try again.

You will have to do this over and over and over again. If you are hand building your wheels, then it will be a very slow process that will take years and even decades of determined effort. 999,999 out of one million Bessler pm wheel chasers will not be able to do it. They will either give up from frustration, go off chasing after designs that are not Bessler's and most likely will not work, or they will quit the chase due to disability or death. Even if you manage to hang in there and continue interpreting clues, building wheels, interpreting clues, building wheels, and so on and so on for many years, you probably still only achieve bitter failure for all of your efforts as millions of other have before you over the last three centuries. But, if you are very, very, VERY lucky, you will finally find all of the clues Bessler left us in the two portraits and elsewhere and their correct interpretations and when you do then the wheel you build based on them will WORK! You will finally have found Bessler's lost wheel secret and solved one of the greatest mysteries in the history of the human race! Larger wheels based on the design will also work and be more powerful.

This chase is not for those who are easily bored and need to see quick results to achieve satisfaction. It is a commitment that one must make for his entire lifetime! It's far more than just a hobby or an occupation. It's more like an overwhelming obsession that compels you to continue no matter what it costs you in terms of money, time, your relationships with those closest to you, or even your mental and physical health! It is something that you will be thinking about the first thing when you wake up in the morning and the last thing when you drift off to sleep at night. Anything less than that level of commitment and you really shouldn't even waste your time with the chase. But, while hard work will move you closer to a solution faster, it is still no guarantee of success. Hope for success, yes...but always know that your chance of actually finding it is extremely small. In any one year, you will have a higher probability of being struck by lightning a dozen times than finding the secret of Bessler's wheels!

    ReplyDelete
  13. You don’t need clues to find the design. You only need the guarantee that it is possible. Bessler provided that information without any clues. You need common sense, physics, geometry, and above all perseverance. There is no guarantee you will find it but you might. If you are chasing clues you will fail.

As can be extracted from the info from anon 4 March 2020 at 02:50 it is “finding”(calculating!!) the design that is hard. Building it is easy and simple once you know how.

Now that is what I call a clue that should not be ignored. But most do and are looking for exotic mechanisms derived from fantastic interpretations of text and/or drawings.

    1. Replying to anon, 4 March 11.43. You write as if you possess Bessler’s secret and although what you write about understanding Bessler’s clues is generally true, it is also clear that you are way off the truth. If you are Ken, or a supporter of his, you should know that what you claim to be the solution is wrong and I’ll tell you why. I have been working on Bessler’s codes for many years as you can tell from my website at www.theorffyreuscodes.com which went live in 2009, although I had been working on them long before that. I only posted my interpretations of the codes for those which did not give any real information which would lead to the secret. But I have made huge progress since those days and I know exactly how Besser’s wheel worked and I can assure you that your solution is not remotely the same as Bessler’s. Your’s does not work and it bears absolutely no resemblance to Bessler’s. There may or may not be the correct information in his portraits, I do not know, but whatever you think you have found, it is useless.

People may think I’m being unkind or jealous about Ken’s book, but I’m not because he is providing fake information which is getting repeated and leading to confusion, please stop posting it here Ken, or whoever you are. It is at best inaccurate and at worse deceptive, false and thoroughly misleading. Write your own blog but stay away from mine

    2. Okay, John, let me get this straight.

You say Ken or one of his supporters is promoting "fake information which is leading to confusion". It is "inaccurate...deceptive...false and thoroughly misleading."

But, in the previous paragraph YOU admit that "I have been working on Bessler's codes for years...I only posted my interpretations (on your website started in 2009) of the codes for those which did not give any real information which would lead to the secret."

So you admit that YOU were being "deceptive" for at least a decade BEFORE Ken supposedly was!!! That YOU have been providing everyone with time wasting USELESS information since 2009 on your websites!

John, you really aren't in any position to criticize either Ken or anyone else for being deceptive assuming that they actually are. I think people are right and that the sudden appearance of Ken's book and his location of previously unknown clues in the DT portraits that contradict all of yours and the wheel design you have has really shaken you up. Maybe you egotistically assumed that you were destined to find the secret of Bessler's wheels and that has now all been thrown into doubt with the appearance of the design to which Ken's interpretations of the DT portrait clues have led him?

Then you say "There may or may not be the correct information in his portraits, I do not know, but whatever you think you have found, it is useless."

You admit that you don't even know what the clues he has found in the DT portraits are and even grant that they "may" be correct. Then you assert that, despite them possibly being correct, whatever he's found MUST be useless. That makes no sense whatsoever. Maybe what he's found IS correct and IS useful? Maybe it does, finally, provide us with the design Bessler actually used for the mechanics inside of his wheels? In the past you said that you wanted to see the secret of Bessler's wheels rediscovered no matter who finds it. Maybe the reality is that you welcome the rediscovery so long as it is YOU who rediscovers it?!

Unlike you who is STILL being secretive, Ken at least has laid all of his cards on the table. He has hidden nothing from us. He's provided us with a youtube video which he claims is based strictly upon clues provided directly by Bessler in the two DT portraits. He also published all of the details of those clues which anyone can buy in a cheap download from Amazon. So far, all we really know about your wheel, also supposedly based on Bessler clues, is that it uses five mechanisms. This, however, is not what the majority of Bessler wheel chasers believe which is that it must have had eight mechanisms in it to produce the eight impact sounds per wheel rotation. Ken's wheel has eight mechanisms and it would produce eight sounds on its descending side per wheel rotation.

Lol! Of course it's possible. He would have done that to decrease everyone else's chance of making any real progress while increasing his chance by making sure only he had the genuine clues which he never revealed and he's still playing that game with everyone. Something to keep in mind the next time you feel like praising him to high heaven for promoting research into Bessler's wheels...yeah, his OWN research that is!

I can't believe what I'm reading here. John has admitted that he's been putting worthless codes and interpretations of them on his various websites since 2009 so they would "not give any real information which would lead to the secret"!

Just when I was convinced that Ken B. has the biggest ego on our planet, now I have to see this! Move over Ken because there might be someone with an ever bigger ego! So big that it made him think it was ok to mislead honest people seeking a solution to the Bessler wheel with a smoke screen of worthless nonsense.

as much before I might have bought the book, as much now it disgusted me. Supporters have not helped Ken sell his book, but they are giving him bad publicity. The best way to defend Ken is to build his wheel. Do it and stop dirtying him.
It's the only way to make Ken reability and make him sell his book.

In addition, we do not come to attack someone openly on his own blog, it is to show your childishness and your small intellectual level. This is probably why you are not building THE wheel that will save everyone. . .

Sorry John but I think a lot of people are getting tired of these pointless comments that end up smearing you and Ken. . .

The fact is, at the moment, no one is near to the actual Bessler Wheel secret... Hence, all this commotion...

Ken shouldn't be behaving this way... actually, he has no supporters...and, it is Ken appearing in various forms...it all began with Technoguy...

And, so far, whatever info Ken has provided just makes no sense... And, you asking his so called supporters to go building also makes no sense...they can't build... the secret is not known...

JC sir should understand that Ken is very intelligent though he acts in a childish manner...he is the spice of this blog sometimes even though it is irritating because he misguides us often unwittingly...

      He needs counseling... not banishing...

I would like to beg Ken to keep his comments Short and also show due reverence to JC sir...

The task of solving Bessler mystery isn't easy...every comment is valuable...

What Ken should understand is that all his efforts so far has failed to result in helping build the wheel...

JC sir is very interesting because he understands Bessler better than any person on this planet...I salute him for that...

But, as far as wheel internal mechanism is concerned, he is no different from Ken... sorry about this...

Ultimately, it would take all our combined efforts to bust this Mystery...

Most of us are reaching the final phase of our life and time is running out...

So, my humble prayer to JC sir is that he should correct Ken in a positive manner... that is beneficial to one and all...

    8. John has made a very shocking confession in this blog which maybe his unconscious guilt made him do without him even consciously realizing he was doing it at the time.

On the one hand he should be praised for tracking down Bessler's writings and giving us readable English translations of them. That's a good thing. But now we learn he's been misleading everyone for over a decade with material he knew was worthless! That's certainly a bad thing and he should rightly be condemned for doing that.

I haven't read everything on all of his websites but I suspect he didn't put a disclaimer on any of their pages saying "Oh, by the way, I have already concluded that all the codes and interpretations I'm giving you here are worthless, but do feel free to waste your time thinking they will help you find the secret of Bessler's wheels."

Everyone must decide for himself whether the good he's done outweighs the bad or not. None of us is either completely good or completely bad. We tend to be a mix of the two extremes and often disappoint those that expect us to be at the completely good extreme all of the time.

    9. It never fails to amaze me how people can read something and completely misunderstand what they just read. I assume it is the following remark I made which has got someone who I suspect is not my dearest friend, all hot and bothered, “I only posted my interpretations of the codes for those which did not give any real information which would lead to the secret.” It seems clear enough to me but for those who are desperate to disparage my efforts, the clues which I have shown and deciphered are genuine but Bessler did not reveal much in them because he wished to point to more informative clues. There is no deception on my part, they are all genuine and obviously so to anyone with more than two brain cells.

The clues I posted on my web site at www.theorffyreuscode.com were those I had managed to find and interpret up to 2009. No one to my knowledge has offered any doubts about their validity and given that the critic above who has impugned my integrity while admitting that he hasn’t read all of the site is championing a publisher of inaccurate and misleading speculation which is couched in terms of ‘factual’ information, I suggest the pot is calling the kettle black.

    10. Maybe it seems "clear enough" to you, John, but writing “I only posted my interpretations of the codes for those which did not give any real information which would lead to the secret.” implies to many here with as few as "two brain cells" that you had interpretations of ADDITIONAL codes at that time that you did NOT post because you believed they would give real information which could lead to the secret. You intended to keep those additional codes and interpretations private and for your eyes only.

Now, your "explanation" is that all the codes and interpretations you have posted weren't really intended by Bessler to reveal anything! To believe that we have to believe he had nothing better to do then make up worthless codes and clues! If we don't buy that "explanation" of yours, you immediately add that those worthless codes and clues "point" to more "informative ones". Lol! Your verbal acrobatics as you try to change the meaning of your accidental confession into something less sinister are almost as amusing as the ones you use to "explain" how your five mech wheel can make eight sounds for each wheel rotation!

Currently, you claim you have all sorts of clues that "prove" your present five mech wheel is "it", but you have not revealed a single one of them. So, what are we supposed to think? It makes us naturally think that if you are secretive now, then there is no reason why you wouldn't have been just as secretive as well as deceptive back then.

      Delete
    11. John's fans will accept his explanation and those that do not like him won't. I think those that do not like him are probably envious of him because he provided those translations of Bessler's books that helped maintain and increase interest in Bessler and his wheels and rightly earned some praise for his efforts. Their envy is their problem, not his. I doubt if he had any private clues or codes back then that he never revealed and which provided the secret of Bessler's wheels because, if he had, he most certainly would have duplicated one of them by now! What he has to worry about today is whether or not his current clues are real or just imaginary. If they are just imaginary, then he has only been chasing ghosts like so many before him have. Let's hope he finally has something real.

    Every individual's choice differs...

Original and natural inventions or discoveries call for original and natural way of approach... that is through intense mental work out...

I thought that it would be best if things were so, my honorable artisans, for in that way, God willing, you’ll go to your labors more happily."

    ............

The above Bessler quote from AP is worth reading again imo.

It's in 4 parts, each with a separate message.

    1. once the PM Law is known its principles can be employed to design a machine. The first design took much time and calculation to properly figure out.

    2. the POP evolved over time to a simple and optimal form, that could be easily understood and constructed quickly.

    3. the latter design is forgiving and tolerant of lesser workmanship.

    4. he thought it best to present his latter design so that any builder would have a smooth and painless as possible path to a successful build.

  17. OK, let me put this as simply and clearly as I can. As you can see from my www.theorffyreuscode.com web site, I have published all of the codes I had deciphered up until then. I even added some additional stuff later. As I stated on the website, the clues don’t seem to lead us to the solution but they ensure that we continue to search for them. Since then I have made many steps forward and each has given me additional information, but not the whole picture until recently.

If you accept the validity of the clues I published then, perhaps you will agree that the clues I have not so far published stand a good chance of being valid too. So when I tell you that the mechanism known to me through my decryption of Bessler’s clues is so completely different to the one that Ken B is proudly touting, you can perhaps understand why I get annoyed by people constantly proclaiming his work on my blog.

However in fairness to Ken, I will desist from harassing him or his supporters when they use this blog to promote his book. Until I publish my own findings I cannot continue to rail against his work, so when my own wheel is finished and once my book is available I think this will answer all my concerns.

Even if someone is successful in building a working wheel, it may or may not be exactly what Bessler had. I don't think we can be 100% sure unless someone decodes text that clearly identifies the design, with no inspiration or interpretation.

    3. Wow that is harsh. So if you are so sure Ken's statements are false, prove it. Ahhhh but that's the problem. You have don't have enough deciphering experience or proof to make any claim. No I am not Ken, just a bystander seeing yet another example of a person providing a solution and getting beat up for it. Accept Ken's statements as just that, a claim, move on. Find your own solution. But don't beat up Ken just because he found something an you didn't.

      Delete
    4. As one who has read Ken's complete book I can tell you that his approach to a solution is different than anything we've seen so far. Fully 95% of the clues he uses to reverse engineer Bessler's wheels come only from the two DT portraits. He does use some information from the rest of Bessler's books but it's mostly about the various demonstrations and tests done with the wheels. He avoids getting involved in tricky translations of clues, codes, or Bible references. He says he has not found them very useful.

What he focuses on are the subtle arrangements of the various items in the two portraits, what they symbolize, and the alphanumeric values of the letters in the German words under the portraits to which those items point. He shows things in the two portraits that have been there all along but which no one has ever noticed before or at least I never noticed them before. There are about 250 pages that deal just with the two portraits. But although he found several dozen clues in the portraits and correctly interpreted them he thinks there could still be more he did not find.

He like John is actually providing the reader with a translation. But it is not a translation from 18th century German to today's English. It is a direct translation from a very unusual arithmetic/symbolic language Bessler used to hide information in the two portraits into the measurements of the parts that he actually used inside of the drums of his wheels. I originally thought his book would be filled with a lot of nonsense. No it definitely is not. It is a very precise document and the design for Bessler's wheels that he finds described in the two portraits is a very precise one.

By the time I finished the volume I was close to 100% convinced that he has actually found "it". But, the reality is that what he as found has not yet produced a working physical wheel. He claims that simulations based on the design do work and I don't think he's lying. But, it's always possible that there was some glitch in his simulations that only made them look like they worked and he even admits that possibility although he thinks it very unlikely. He is confident that as more and more obtain and study his book, a working physical wheel will finally come from it. I guess that time will tell if he is right.

With no one having a working physical wheel yet, Bessler history and the clues, real or imaginary, are all we really have to talk about. Hopefully something real will come from them eventually.

      Delete
    7. Don’t expect anything real coming from a discussion about imaginary clues. When the design is discovered it will be clear that Bessler found the one and only solution possible. The very existence of AP itself is a clue. Bessler knew that if anyone would ever succeed, they would find the exact same design and laws of perpetual motion as he did.

If different designs would be possible, AP would make no sense.

      Delete
    8. Yes, Marinus, Bessler does give the impression that he had found the only design that would produce pm. But, I'm not so sure about that. It's possible that more than just his design will work but those designs are very hard to find. He was able to find one of them that worked and that took a tremendous amount of luck. Once he had it he didn't look for any others. Maybe if he had he would have found some of them in the years ahead of him. When "the" design Bessler found is finally confirmed that shouldn't discourage inventors from looking for other non-Bessler designs that will also work. After all, it might turn out that there are actually better and more powerful designs than the one Bessler had and it would be shame if they never got discovered. We need to think of Bessler's wheels as the beginning of the Age of Self-Motive Machinery and not the end of it.

  19. There are two things going on here. Claim to have deciphered B's. clues successfully which will lead to B's. design (Ken & John). Claim to have a design for a gravity PM wheel with some, little, or no regard to B's. clues (many others). If in the second group your PM wheel design is yours alone, until proven otherwise.

The onus is on each individual in group one to prove with a working wheel that in all probability they have correctly deciphered B's. clues. Until then it's not even an intellectual argument about whose right or wrong, just posturing and puffery.

    1. Good analysis. Empty vessels…, little wool. Most laughable is Ken claiming to be right until he is proven wrong. At least John is trying to prove his theory by building it. However, If it will not work then he already stated that it will be because of poor craftsmanship and not because he is wrong. This despite Bessler clearly stating that craftsmanship is not an issue.

Clear clues are ignored and imaginary clues are introduced to substantiate their theories.

    2. It's easy for critics to make fun of both John and Ken, but the two have done much study of Bessler and have been willing to take the risk to their credibility of stating they have a solution. Most of their critics have no solutions and never will. That is the difference between them. Their critics actually hope they will fail so as to prove the critics were right and knew better all along. They actually get pleasure seeing others fail. It's the "misery loves company" principle at work because most of the critics have failed at practically everything they've ever tried and the more they see others fail the better they feel about themselves and their own many failures. If, however, John or Ken or both are successful, then their critics will just quietly disappear looking for others to try to get their cheap ego trips off of by predicting they are fools and bound to fail at whatever they do. John and Ken need to ignore the critics and just keep on moving toward their goals and I'm sure they both will.

    8. I wish we had those missing drawings that Bessler removed and destroyed from MT so we could compare them to what KB came up with in his wheel video on youtube. But if we had those drawings then there would be no need for this blog and we wouldn't all be here now!

I think I read that a total of four pages had been removed.

Maybe the first page was for the front view of a one direction wheel's uncovered drum and the second page was for the side view of it? The third page could then have showed the front view of a two direction wheel's uncovered drum and the fourth page the side view of it. I think that order would be the most logical one to use. He must have worked weeks on carefully carving out the wood printing plates for those drawings and then had to be in a really bad mood to remove them from the others for MT and just throw the four into a roaring fire place along with any test prints he had made from them. You got to be very angry or paranoid to do something like that.

If he hadn't destroyed those four pieces of wood and they had been found after his death, they might have changed all of the last three hundred years of history!

Can The simulations provide us the desired design?...

    1. They will continue to explore the clues in Bessler's books to try to find out exactly what Bessler's design was. That way we will know whether any working pm wheel that shows up is actually a new invention of the builder or is just a copy that uses Bessler's design. If the inventor patents his pm wheel and it can be later shown that the design is just a variation of Bessler's design, then that would immediately invalidate his patent. Knowing what Bessler's design was can serve as a reference so that pm wheel inventors will be better able to avoid just duplicating it and can concentrate on finding different designs whose patents won't risk being invalidated.

Sometimes someone will come up with something that is too ahead of its time. I think that was Bessler's problem. He had something considered impossible and now three hundred years later its still considered impossible. People who come up with something considered impossible are immediately considered to be crackpots and hoaxers. Overcoming that and getting the world to accept Bessler's wheels were real and wanting to use them will be a struggle for years to come.
